Gartner, an international research and consulting agency, released a statistical report today. Last year, the global semiconductor revenue totaled US$315 billion, an annual increase of 5%. Although Intel's revenue has declined for two consecutive years, it has remained the semiconductor leader for 22 consecutive years.
According to Gu Neng's survey, the total revenue growth rate of the world's top 25 semiconductor manufacturers reached 6.9%, which is far better than the performance of other manufacturers in the market, and the revenue growth rate of the remaining manufacturers is only 0.9%. Part of the reason can be attributed to the leading manufacturers, there are many memory fabs, which are doing well with an annual revenue growth of 23.5%.
Andrew Norwood, vice president of research at Gu Neng, said that after a surplus of semiconductor inventories at the beginning of last year, revenue continued to increase in the second and third quarters, and it only flattened in the fourth quarter.
He emphasized that the growth of memory products, especially the DRAM industry, is not because of strong demand, but because of reduced supply and higher prices. In fact, the overall memory market is still facing rapid changes in the industry throughout the year. For example, the production of personal computers has declined by 9.9%, and the high-end smartphone market has also become saturated. Smartphone.
As for semiconductors, the top ten are Intel, Samsung, Qualcomm, SK Hynix, Micron, Toshiba, Texas Instruments, Broadcom, STMicroelectronics and Renesas.
Among them, Micron’s annual revenue increased by 72.3%, and SK Hynix increased by 40.8%. Both companies are memory giants; No. 2 Samsung Electronics has been ranked second for the 12th consecutive year.
According to Gu Neng's survey, since 2002, the company's memory market share has almost doubled. The reason is that both DRAM or storage type flash memory (NANDFlash) have grown considerably.
Qualcomm, a major mobile phone chip maker, saw its revenue increase by 30.6% last year, ranking third in both growth and global revenue. Attributable to the company's market leadership in smartphone application processors and 4GLTE baseband processors.
Manufacturers outside the top 10 ranked the best with MediaTek, because in the mid-to-low-end mobile phone chips, it is significantly ahead of other peers.
